November 14, 2016 Meeting

Our next meeting will take place on November 14, 2016 at the Hanes Mall Golden Corral in Winston Salem. Dinner is at 6 p.m. with the meeting starting at 7 p.m. Captain Stewart Merritt with Salt Air Ventures will be our speaker. He will be talking on fishing for grouper, sea bass and snappers. October 10, 2016 Meeting

Our next meeting will take place on October 10, 2016 at Golden Corral Hanes Mall, Winston Salem. Dinner will start at 6 p.m. with the meeting starting at 7 p.m. Our speaker will be Jason Peters. Jason works for the North Carolina Division of Marine Fisheries, previously he designed and implemented coastal habitat enhancement projects. He is current head of the Artificial Reef Program for NCDMF.

September 12, 2016 Meeting

Our next meeting will take place on September 12, 2016 at the Golden Corral Hanes Mall. Dinner at 6 p.m. and meeting at 7 p.m. Captain Dave Tilley, owner of SaltwaterCentral.com will be our speaker. Captain Dave will be speaking to us about how to find fish from space and anchoring techniques. This is a meeting you won’t want to miss!!

Next Meeting August 8, 2016

Dinner at 6p.m., meeting at 7 p.m. Hanes Mall Golden Corral. Out speaker will be Captain Jody Gay, owner of Blue Water Candy Lures and member of the winning team of the Cape Lookout Shootout Tournament. Captain Jody will be talking to us about grouper fishing. Cannot say enough good things about Jody, his family and his company. They are huge supporters of our group, so be sure to come out and show support for his seminar. He definitely knows a thing or two about fishing and if you want to learn how to catch more, don’t miss this meeting!!

Captain Mitchell Blake with Down East Guide Service did an excellent job educating our folks on drum and trophy drum fishing. He talked about the science behind the fish, rods, reels, tackle, rigs, and the proper way to handle these very important fish. Thank you so much for sharing some of what you know with our group!

July 11, 2016 Meeting

Reminder of our upcoming meeting July 11, 2016 at the Golden Corral Hanes Mall in Winston Salem. Dinner at 6:00, meeting starts at 7:00. Our speaker this month is Captain Mitchell Blake with Down East Guide Service. Captain Mitch’s specialties are Riverine Striped Bass (winter/spring), inshore mixed bag: specks, pups, flounder (summer/fall), tarpon and trophy red drum (July – September).  He will speak on Trophy Red Drum Tactics and Mixed Bag Applications.  This is one guy who definitely knows how to put you on the fish! Don’t miss the opportunity to learn. Hope to see you there!

June Meeting Speaker Update

There has been a change in our speaker for the June 13, 2016 meeting at Hanes Mall Golden Corral (dinner at 6 p.m., meeting at 7 p.m.). Our speaker will be Captain Ray Massengill from Down East Guide Service. Ray will be speaking to us about bottom fishing (grouper, sea bass, trigger fish, etc.) Captain Ray has been running charters and commercial fishing for 35 years. His specialty is snapper and grouper. Make sure you don’t miss this one!
